About me

I tutor Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics, primarily for GCSE and A-Level students. I recently completed my A-Levels at Norwich School, achieving A* grades in Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics, alongside an A in History. I also achieved grades 1,1 in STEP II and III, meeting the standard STEP requirement for Mathematics at the University of Cambridge. I particularly enjoy working with students who want to strengthen their understanding, tackle harder questions and push towards the highest grades. My approach is centred on understanding why methods work rather than simply memorising them, and I encourage students to talk through their reasoning and become more confident when approaching unfamiliar problems. Mathematical problem solving has been a major interest of mine throughout school. I competed successfully in UKMT competitions every year, ultimately achieving Merit in BMO2 twice and a Bronze Medal in the Intermediate Mathematical Olympiad. I can therefore also support students who want to go beyond the standard curriculum through UKMT challenges, Kangaroos and Olympiad-style problems. I was selected as one of 20 students from across Europe to attend PROMYS Europe, a six-week intensive mathematics programme run in collaboration with the University of Oxford. I later returned as one of seven second-year students, where I mentored first-year participants on challenging problem sets and gave a short mathematical mini-course. That experience strongly influences the way I teach. When a student is stuck, I prefer to ask questions or give a carefully chosen hint rather than immediately showing them the full solution. My aim is not just to help students answer one question, but to give them the understanding and problem-solving skills to tackle the next one independently. I can tutor GCSE and A-Level Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics across exam boards. I can also offer support with UKMT competitions from the Junior Mathematical Challenge through to BMO1.
