1. About These Terms

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of UpMyGrade's tutoring services and website (www.upmygrade.co.uk). By booking a lesson, submitting a free trial request or using our platform, you agree to these Terms.

2. Our Services

UpMyGrade provides online one-to-one tutoring for GCSE and A-Level students across the UK. Lessons are delivered remotely via our own in-platform video classroom.

All tutors on the UpMyGrade platform hold a minimum of an A* at A-Level in the subject(s) they teach and have been interviewed and DBS checked before being accepted onto the platform.

We reserve the right to decline any booking request at our discretion.

3. Free Trial Session

We offer a free introductory trial session for new students. The following conditions apply:

One free trial session per student
The trial session is subject to tutor availability
We will confirm your trial date and time by email or phone following your request
The free trial is designed to help establish a good tutor-student fit — it does not constitute a commitment to ongoing lessons on either side
We reserve the right to withdraw the free trial offer at any time

4. Booking Lessons

Lessons are arranged through the UpMyGrade platform. Once a lesson is confirmed:

You will receive confirmation of the date, time and tutor
Lessons are conducted via our own in-platform video classroom — you are responsible for ensuring your child has access to a working device, internet connection and (where required) a microphone

UpMyGrade acts as a platform connecting students with tutors. We take reasonable steps to ensure lesson quality but cannot guarantee specific academic outcomes.

5. Pricing and Payment

Lesson prices are confirmed at the time of booking
Payment is due in advance of the lesson unless otherwise agreed
Prices are subject to change with reasonable notice
All prices are in GBP and inclusive of any applicable taxes

6. Cancellation and Rescheduling

Cancelled by the parent or student:

Cancellations made with more than 24 hours' notice may be rescheduled or refunded at no charge
Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice are not refunded, unless the assigned tutor chooses to approve a refund or reschedule at their discretion (for example, in the case of illness or a genuine emergency)
Repeated late cancellations may affect your ability to book future lessons

Cancelled or rescheduled by the tutor:

A tutor may reschedule or move a confirmed lesson at any time, for any reason, without this counting against the student's cancellation record
If a tutor is unavailable and no suitable replacement time can be agreed, we will offer an alternative tutor or issue a full refund for the affected session

Exceptional circumstances:

We will use reasonable discretion in cases of genuine emergency. Please contact us as soon as possible at info@upmygrade.co.uk.

7. Conduct and Responsibilities

Parents and students agree to:

Treat all UpMyGrade tutors with courtesy and respect
Ensure sessions take place in an appropriate, supervised environment
Not record or share lesson content without prior written consent from UpMyGrade and the tutor
Use UpMyGrade's in-platform video classroom and any associated services appropriately, and not attempt to bypass or interfere with it

UpMyGrade reserves the right to:

Suspend or terminate access to the platform for any user who engages in abusive, inappropriate or unsafe behaviour
Remove a tutor-student pairing if either party requests it or if we consider it necessary

8. The UMG Revision Portal

Access to the UMG revision portal (upmygrade.org) may be provided as part of your lesson package. Portal access is:

For the personal, non-commercial use of the registered student only
Not to be shared with third parties
Subject to the portal's own terms of use

We may update, suspend or withdraw portal content at any time.

9. Intellectual Property

All content on the UpMyGrade website and portal — including text, images, lesson materials and branding — is the property of UpMyGrade and protected by applicable intellectual property law. You may not reproduce, distribute or use our content without written permission.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

UpMyGrade is not liable for any failure to achieve specific exam grades or academic results
UpMyGrade is not responsible for technical issues outside our control (e.g. internet outages, device failures) that affect lesson delivery
Our total liability to you in connection with our services shall not exceed the amount paid for the specific lesson or service in question

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

11. Privacy

Your use of our services is also governed by our Privacy Policy, available at www.upmygrade.co.uk/privacypolicy. By using our services, you confirm you have read and understood our Privacy Policy.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The most recent version will always be available on our website. Continued use of our services after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of our services will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
