It is a free introductory lesson with a tutor we have matched to your child, so you can both see whether the fit is right. There is one free trial per student and it is subject to tutor availability. We confirm the date and time with you by email or phone. It is not a commitment to book anything afterwards, on either side.
Every tutor holds a minimum of an A* in the subject they teach. Each one is interviewed and DBS checked before they are accepted onto the platform. Every tutor’s A* grade and identity are verified before they teach.
There is no commitment after a trial. If it is not the right fit, you can choose another tutor for a trial.
We reply by the same time on the next working day. A request sent at 10am on a weekday is answered by 10am the next working day. A request sent at 8am on a Sunday is answered by 5pm on Monday.
You pay in advance, either for a single lesson or for a block of five or ten at a lower price per lesson. The first trial lesson is free and needs no card.
GCSE lessons start at £27.99 and A-Level lessons at £31.99 for a single lesson. Blocks of five or ten bring the price per lesson down, to £25.10 for GCSE and £28.70 for A-Level in a block of ten. Payment is due in advance of the lesson and all prices are in pounds sterling.
Online, through your UpMyGrade account. Your child needs a device, a working internet connection and a microphone. Everything else, including the lesson notes and homework, is in the same place.
Your tutor writes up the lesson: what went well, what to focus on next, and the homework to do before the next session. It is written by the tutor who taught the lesson, and it appears in your account afterwards.
With more than 24 hours notice, a lesson can be rescheduled or refunded at no charge. With less than 24 hours notice it is not refunded, unless your tutor chooses to reschedule or refund it at their discretion, for example for illness or a genuine emergency.
Students under 16 link a parent or guardian, who receives a short email to confirm the account before lessons begin. At 16 and 17 it is optional. Parents can then see lessons, notes and homework in their own login.
